Recent increases in high-risk situations, such as active shooters, have called for development and advances in law enforcement protocols in order to more proficiently handle these situations. One aspect to these advancements is the incorporation of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) into these situations in order to minimize the delay to life saving medical care on scene. Currently, three levels of on scene medical care exist for these scenarios; tactical medics, Rescue Task Force (RTF), and external treatment. This submission looks further into the role of RTF in active shooter scenarios and their on scene operations.
