About Us
Philologia is housed in and operated by the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (CLAHS) at Virginia Tech. The name comes from the Greek words philo (love) and logos (reason, research, or study), embodying the journal’s mission to showcase a love of learning.
The journal publishes undergraduate research spanning English, history, linguistics, philosophy, political science, international relations, sociology, religion and culture, human development and family science, communication, education, science and technology studies (STS), and beyond.
Edited by undergraduate students enrolled in ENGL 4744, with support from Virginia Tech Publishing and Press (VT&P), the journal provides a platform for early-career research and publishing experience across the humanities and social sciences.
Philologia works to make its website accessible to all users, including those with hearing, visual, and motor impairments. We continually remove barriers so that everyone can access VT undergraduate research equitably. Our website works with screen readers, and we provide alt text for all visual elements. We also use high-contrast text throughout for better visibility.
